KIU, Main Campus - On Tuesday, August 13th 2024, the Management of KIU received visitors from Mombasa County, Republic of Kenya. The delegates from Mombasa include Dr. Mbwarali Kame, the County Education Committee Member and VTC and Ms. Zahra Omar Abubakar.
The Management was represented by Dr. Mundu Mustafa, the ADVC in charge of Research, Innovation, Consultancy and Extension, Dr. Jacob Ashibi, the DVC in charge of Academic Affairs, Ms. Christine Ainebyoona, the Campus Administrator, Dr. Vidya Sankarapandian, the Director of Academic Affairs and Mr. Sewanyina Muniru, the Deputy Director of Marketing.
According to Dr. Kame, the purpose of the visit was to explore areas of collaboration, especially in training medical students. The KIU Teaching Hospital and Research (KIUTHR) offers over 50 programmes in medicine, biomedical sciences, allied health sciences, nursing and pharmacy.
"KIU offers 12 Master of Medicine Programmes in Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Paediatrics and Child Health, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Radiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), Emergency Medicine, Anaesthesia and Critical Care, and Pathology", said Dr. Mustafa as he explained the different medical programmes offered by KIU.
Dr. Kame noted that Mombasa County is ready for a productive partnership with KIU, "We are ready for an MoU with KIU".
